Performance Evaluations

Enzyme Laboratories specialises in performance evaluations of cleaning products. We employ a range of techniques to scientifically determine the cleaning efficacy of the products tested.

  • Laundry Wash Evaluations

Specially soiled material is washed in a household washing machine. Colour measurements are taken before and after the wash cycle so the percentage of soil removal can be calculated. A variety of laundry products can be tested including laundry liquid and powders, laundry soakers, in wash boosters, bleach products and more.

  • Hard Surface Cleaner Evaluations

Hard surface cleaners can include bathroom, multi-purpose, floor, window and kitchen cleaners. Here we soil tiles with a specific soil, depending on the product being tested, and scrub the tiles in a specialised scrubbing apparatus that uniformly cleans the tiles without operator bias. Again the colour reading before and after cleaning is used to calculate the percentage of soil removed.

  • Automatic Dishwasher Evaluations

This is similar to the laundry evaluations except soiled tiles are used in a household dishwasher. The colour measurements allow for soil removal calculations.

  • Manual Dishwashing Evaluations

This method involves washing plates that have been soiled with a specific blend of fats and oils. The number of plates washed before the foam dies off is an indication of the products performance.

  • Fabric Softener Evaluations

A number of attributes are analysed with fabric softeners. Softness is measured using a panel to compare the softness of towels washed in each product. The water absorbency and drying time is also measured on cloth washed in the product.
